Jerry Snow

Jerry Snow’s motivation for making charitable gifts to Dorothy Love Retirement Community is quite simple: He is both impressed with and grateful for the care his father receives as a resident there, so he does what he can to help.

“It makes it easier, knowing that my dad is happy there and well taken care of,” says Jerry, whose mother also lived at Dorothy Love until her death in 2007. “I think it’s a special place that deserves my support.” Most recently, Jerry donated funds to purchase four new electric high-low beds for the health care center.

Executive Director Ann Roller and her staff couldn’t be more thrilled with the new beds, as they replaced several older beds that were still in use. Prior to this, a resident who wished to sit up for lunch would have waited for a staff member to manually crank his or her bed into a sitting position. Now, that same resident can simply push a button on the side of the bed to be repositioned. Other beds, used with residents at risk for falls, had to be permanently situated on the floor, causing staff members to have to bend to the ground to assist them. The new beds can easily be raised and lowered when needed.

“We are so grateful for these beds,” says Roller. “Not only do they enhance the comfort and independence of our residents, but they also help to prevent staff injuries.”
